There are 09 video cameras of the Police Station filming Copacabana at real time: 07 at Atlantica Avenue and 02 at Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Avenue.
According to the data of the Department of Public Security the number of attacks is decreasing about 34% in the 2nd semester of 2003. From January to June 2003 they were 196 cases and 130 from July to December. This decreasing is even greater since 2002: from August to December happened 202 attacks and107 at the same time in 2003 ( decrease of 47%). The car theft decreased from 35 to 18 cars.
Another occurrence that´s happening, even with the work of the Police authorities are the robberies that cyclists are making. The thieves are stealing at Posto 06 (watchtower 06) near
the Atlantica, Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and Rainha Elizabeth Avenues and
Raul Pompéia, Saint-Roman, Francisco Otaviano and
Bulhões de Carvalho.
